The Dawnbringers

The Dawnbringers was a cult founded in the early 1970s by the charismatic and very handsome leader Evan Reed. It drew heavy inspiration from the teachings of Aleister Crowley, mixing elements of hermeticism with the rebellious attitudes of the 1970s counterculture, embracing sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll as part of their rituals. The cult operated right here in Moonvale,CA during the early 70s, and they focused on gaining enlightenment and ascending to a higher plane of existence through secret rituals (which often involved really hot group sex and taking drugs lmfao).

Cult Ideology

Ascension: Cult members believed they could transcend their physical forms through rituals involving intense physical and emotional experiences. These rituals often included drugs, sex, and symbolic death/rebirth ceremonies.
Esoteric Knowledge: Members were initiated into progressively higher levels of knowledge, which they believed unlocked secret truths about the universe. They saw themselves as the next step in human evolution, destined to bring about a new era of spiritual awakening.
Devotion to Evan Reed: Reed was seen as a messianic figure, someone who had already ascended spiritually and was guiding the cult towards their collective awakening.

Decline of the Cult

The Dawnbringers eventually came under scrutiny following the disappearance of several young women, leading to the Chapel of Contemplation raid in August 1975. Following the raid, the Dawnbringers went into a short hiatus that saw the cult reduce activity by a lot. In November 1975, after 5 women were found dead, Evan Reed vanished, and the cult dissolved into obscurity. Most people believe Evan Reed to be the murderer who viciously attacked those girls. But a lot of believers have faith that Reed was victim to a set up and fled the country to avoid persecution. In every way, his influence and dark legacy still linger over Moonvale, especially concerning the mysterious Blackridge Manor where many of their rituals allegedly took place.
